He was kidnapped at a young age from his family, taken down to hell and forced to survive on his own like some feral creature. No education, no socialization. That he is at all socialized or literate speaks more to his intelligence and stubbornness to find the time to pursue knowledge even after years of pursuing only the power to survive against every odd. For there were full many actively seeking his demise.
His social manners are atrocious, he is awkward, blunt, moody, shy, and oblivious, and I do find him quite remarkable.

He is incredibly fast on picking up what he is taught, stubborn to a fault, and loyal beyond question. But more than anything, his ability to maintain warmth deep in his heart despite his years of solitude and bloody existence is almost miraculous.
