I said nothing about perfection.

And yet that is essentially what you seem to desire. If you wished to save me in either instance it would require having such foresight and alacrity as to prevent the events or appear at the right moment to divert their course, if any of us had such powers of prescience we would all be in a better situation.

Instead we have ever relied on splitting up and trusting one another to do their part. It served us well for eons, until it did not. That is not your failing.

[no response. he doesn't have any real counterargument, but he can't bring himself to agree either]

I have my own regrets, reasonable and unreasonable. It is not as if I do not understand.

I just do not want you to feel you have ever failed us, Elidibus. That could not be further from the truth.

He has his own worries, certainly. The things he wishes he could have changed perhaps.

On second thought, it was foolish of me to even ask. With his sentimental nature, I would not be surprised if he worried more than the two of us combined.

And yet he chides me for worrying too much.

Well, we recognize best in others our own faults.

It is our nature to worry I suppose.

Not an inherently bad thing, I would say. We just take it a little too far.
