We could start with a walk around. Despite the dangers lurking about, this place really was beautiful. And given where we are, and the fact that we're in a dream... we could probably change it to be anything we like.
[this is absolutely a date. ahrun'ya starts walking down the steps to one of the lower islands, gesturing for elidibus to follow. he'll walk with his back to him, not saying anything at first, wanting to give him some space]
[he snerks and attempts to cover it up with a fake cough, only for it to turn into a real cough at that last comment. his cheeks might be ever so slightly pink too.
his dignity is already getting ruined, this was a terrible mistake he regrets everything]
[smacking the petalouda away and rubbing his ear. i'm level 90 now don't bother me]
I guess they'll still attack even in dreams... great. Well, can't say it'll be boring. Say, do you remember if any of these buildings have an archive in them?
[taking a second to compose himself. of course he didn't get flustered because the warrior of light called him pretty, that would be stupid and childish and utterly mortifying and he would never act like that.]
There must have been some kind of an archive, but I do not think I ever knew where it was.
It will likely be mostly records of the various creations that were tested here. Which might be interesting, yes, but not exactly the type of reading one would do for recreation.
[the word "recreation" said like it's a deeply alien concept]
What? I've only seen part of it. I was just curious.
I didn't even see an actual archive until I went to Ishgard... my clan records all our history orally, in songs and poems. I've been thinking of doing the same, for this place... but it's hard to come up with the right words.
[kneels down where an elpis flower is glowing faintly, gently touching the petals]
Amaurot was a city of spoken and written word both. There were many libraries and archives housing records of all manner - texts, sounds, memories. Knowledge and culture spanning the length of your history a thousand times over.
[yeah it turns out elidibus with his memories intact is like this about amaurot just as much as emet. back in the days of paradise etc etc]
Maybe. I won't say there weren't other things involved, but for me... well, like I said earlier: I made a promise. To remember. And for me, that means keeping your memory in my heart. And those memories are precious to me, even when they're painful.
[the flower glows gold, with a hint of pink, and ahrun'ya rises]
I always felt like I understood you Ancients a little better when you talked about your memories.

[sigh]
Indeed, you never do.
How would you suggest we begin, then?

...I did enjoy visiting Elpis. Very well, let us walk.

--ow! These things... they're so pretty, and so mean. Kind of remind me of you.

Of course there were.

You sound like Emet-Selch. I guess I shouldn't be surprised.

You can hardly blame me for being sentimental about my home.

Does that mean you never understood me?

Just not as much as I wanted to.
