At the end of the day, you were someone who was fighting fiercely for the love of a home and people that you lost. How could I not find that sympathetic? How could I say I wouldn't be the same if I was in your position? Even if we couldn't reconcile our ideals in the end... I owed it to you to try to understand. I respected you, even if I hated you, too. I don't think our reasons for fighting were all that different.

It is painful, though, opposing someone you can sympathise with. I suppose that is why I find myself trying to deny the notion even now.

Yeah. It is. I never told the other Scions, but... part of me believed there was a chance, even a small one, that if we could have come to an understanding... we might not have had to fight. I know it's naive of me. But... well, I've always been like that.
